A deciduous Pacific Northwest native shrub with maple-like leaves. In mid-spring the upright branches are heavy with white, pink, or rose-red flowers; these develop into edible gray-blue berries. Upright habit, growing unpruned to 8'-12'. One of our finest native shrubs for the garden. Hummingbirds love the flowers. These are unselected for flower color. Hardy to Zone 5
