This bamboo can reach 12’-15’. Water bamboo has air canals in the rhizomes and roots which allow it to grow in wet soils where other bamboos would suffer.

Bamboo Barrier Notes
Running bamboos can be contained with a variety of methods. One easy method is to dig a trench along the border of the area you want to fill with bamboo, and line the trench with a material such as aluminum roof flashing or 40mil plastic. Leave a 2"-3" lip above the ground, and check it annually for straying rhizomes. In average to poor soil, 18"-24" of barrier depth works well. In good soil, 24"-36" may be necessary. Keeping your bamboo well watered will also limit its running.
