Grows to 15' high. Culms are a deep yellow accented with smooth medium green grooves. Prefers full sun. New shoots are edible and tasty. One of the hardiest timber bamboos. Running type, we recommend planting with a barrier.

Bamboo Barrier Notes
Running bamboos can be contained with a variety of methods. One easy method is to dig a trench along the border of the area you want to fill with bamboo, and line the trench with a material such as aluminum roof flashing or 40mil plastic. Leave a 2"-3" lip above the ground, and check it annually for straying rhizomes. In average to poor soil, 18"-24" of barrier depth works well. In good soil, 24"-36" may be necessary. Keeping your bamboo well watered will also limit its running.
