Barriers are installed when the fruit is the size of a nickel (May or early June in the Pacific Northwest. Slip the small fruit into the bottom half of the barrier. Then gently twist the open end of the barrier around the fruit stem. Leave the barrier in place until the fruit is ready to pick. Placing the barriers as you thin your fruit is ideal. You only have to install them on fruit you want to mature. Part of the proceeds help support the Seattle Tree Fruit Society and the Mt. Vernon Fruit Test Station.
